Son nom vient du mot aborig\u00e8ne <em>Boondi<\/em>, qui signifie \u00ab eau qui brise sur les rochers \u00bb. Et effectivement, les vagues qui d\u00e9ferlent sur ce croissant de sable dor\u00e9 attirent surfeurs locaux et touristes du monde entier depuis plus d&rsquo;un si\u00e8cle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bondi, c&rsquo;est aussi un quartier vibrant avec ses restaurants branch\u00e9s, ses galeries d&rsquo;art, son c\u00e9l\u00e8bre march\u00e9 du dimanche et son Icebergs Club \u2014 une piscine d&rsquo;eau de mer accroch\u00e9e \u00e0 la falaise, ouverte depuis 1929.
